Certified Athetic Trainer (ATC) oversees the health and well-being of an athlete. To do this, the athletic trainer must be knowledgeable in many areas: anatomy, phases of injury and rehabilitation, special testing used in the evaluation process, bracing and splinting of injuries, pharmacology, nutrition, modalities and how they are used to speed the recovery process, and healthcare administration. One additional quality ATCs need to possess is the ability to be a "people person." It is vital for ATCs to be good communicators, to be empathetic to their athlete's injuries, to be trustworthy, and to maintain a sense of humor. During the course of a week, athletic trainers come in contact with a variety of people, so the ability to adapt is also very important. They are many times mistaken for personal trainers as they are often referred to as athletic trainers. However, they have a more comprehensive educational background than do personal trainers, They must have a minimum of a BS degree, pass certain clinical criteria and pass the Board of Certification (BOC) Exam. Although many of them do work as personal fitness trainers. Please see the following link to find out more about an ATC.

I grew up on the Jersey Shore and loved playing sports and hanging out on the beach as a kid. He is still very active and currently exercises, lifts weights, plays ice hockey, skis, golfs and goes to the beach when time permits. He also has interests that involve watching and attending sporting events, cooking, comedy and investing.
